Monochromes comes from the composer's interest in color, associated since her childhood with light. Light becoming musical light.
It is the different sensations that the colors evoke in her that she wanted to transpose into three varied color-atmospheres, imagining each movement surrounded by light and its own texture.
The first Monochrome, lyrical, reveals the shapes of an imaginary and sound landscape as the rhythm evolves. The contours of the melody, resembling shapes or objects, are articulated more and more precisely, shaping themselves from the quarter note to the triple quavers in a progressive ascension before descending towards half notes. Could it be the color white?
This is what the second Monochrome suggests, hazy and atmospheric. The effects of wind, ultrasound, loss of the notion of time, widening of the ambitus, evoke the color pearl gray.
Contrasting in its tempo, its character and its passion, the last Monochrome is the accumulation of the textures of the other two movements, the explosion of a multitude of colors, creating the illusion of a single and the same multiple color, like like an iridescent kaleidoscope.
